
The
Lansing Moves the World Foundation is a partner charity with the Lansing Marathon. Lansing Moves the World has four key programs:
- The creation and operation of an "ACE" program which promotes Activity, Community involvement, and Educational opportunities for children in Lansing Schools. The pilot ACE program took place at Bingham Elementary School in Lansing during winter/spring 2012, and ACE has continued at three public schools in 2012-2013 - Mt Hope Academy, Pleasant View School, and Riddle Elementary School.
- A campaign to plant trees in deforested areas of Kenya
- A project to provide security and educational opportunities for children victimized by violence in the Tana River District of Kenya
- Support of entrepreneurial activities by East-African women's groups (brick-making, fish-farming, vegetable growing, crop irrigation)
Other 2013 Lansing Marathon Charities include the
Beekman Therapeutic Riding Center,
Lansing Boys and Girls Club,
Mid-MEAC, the
South Lansing Community Development Association (SLCDA), the
Capital Area Down Syndrome Association (CADSA), and the
Michigan Coalition against Homelessness.
